Mormon Publication "Athiests Celebrate Christmas"

From the Article:
Why are they proselytizing?

They raise the false claim that religions have caused all kinds of evil in the world. But this merely shows that they are willing to speak without physical evidence, because history shows, not that religion causes wars and persecutions, but rather that humans are prone to war and persecution, and then invoke whatever excuse their belief system provides them to justify their actions.

After all, the most monstrous actions of cruelty and mass murder in human history arguably took place in the 20th century, and were mostly perpetrated by atheists claiming science as their justification. From Hitler to Stalin, Mao to Pol Pot, the death toll from atheists beggars any claim by faith-driven monsters of the past.

In fact, one could, with far more merit, argue that religious faith tempers the actions of believers, and that the evils done by nominally Christian societies were done only by those who deviated from the norms and teachings of their faith.

What would have happened to Native Americans if the conquistadores had not been burdened with all those pesky priests who kept exposing their crimes and excesses to the Christian rulers, who, as best they could, acted to protect native population?

These atheists claim to know what is good for everyone. They claim to know "truth" to a level that far exceeds their ability to supply proof. In other words, they are behaving exactly like the religious fanatics they supposedly deplore.

They follow the standard pattern of those who have changed allegiances from one belief-group to another.

Jesus Walks - Kanye West

I need to recruit all the soldiers
All of God's soldiers
We at war
We at war with society, racism, terrorism, but most of all we at war
with ourselves

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me with me with me [fades]

You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless NIGGAZ! might snatch your necklace
And next these NIGGAZ! might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these NIGGAZ! who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death is
Top floor the view alone will leave you breathless Uhhhh!
Try to catch it Uhhhh! It's kinda hard
Getting choked by the detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "we eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
Huh? Y'all eat pieces of shit? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke rental car from Avis
My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone til November I got packs to move cuz I hope

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so
long,(Jesus walks)so long, (Jesus walks),so lo-ong. (Jesus walks with
me with me with me. fades)

To the hustlas, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(Jesus walks with them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
(Jesus walks with tthheemm)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know He hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers is role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope it take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now

A cellphone returned restores mans faith in humanity

If you find a cell phone look at the last person called. Call them. Let them know you found a phone. Go down the list until you reach someone and leave the phone in a public place where they can retrieve it.

You have to do this quickly because the phone battery will die. In addition, the person could be leaving town soon.
The photo atop is of Keyan Alemifair of Kansas City. After making contact I met him at a cafe. He was given a steno pad to write a note.
This is what he wrote:

"Thanks for helping me out man, you give human kind hope. I can't really think of
anything to say so I think I'll draw."

I'm with Ugly - Ministering to the Homeless in Kansas City

The photos above were taken yesterday. The young man to the bottom of the post is named Rob. We met near the mission in downtown Kansas City. After teaching me a couple tricks to urban squatting Rob taught me the art of flying a sign.d
I stood in the intersection with a sign that said, "I'm with ugly" and arrows pointing up.
The first day we met I provided food - the next day Rob showed me how to provide food for myself if I needed it . Rob says, "Fly a sign"

I went to one of the most presitgous churches in Kansas City and flew a sign: Honk if you fear God - no one honked as they exited church. The young men in the center picture are from a church in kansas City called Jacobs Well.

Message From Rabbi David Bess

Greetings from Israel. I can see you are having trials and that you've given your enemies an opportunity to make peace. Good.
You Christians are too forgiving forgetting the importance of living a good life and doing right by people focusing always on the great sacrifice Jesus.
The law is the law, if you're enemies cannot obey the law they must be taken and judged by the law. You must hold them accountable. A city cannot stand with wicked leaders. The people cannot be afraid. Fear God not men. Do Mitzvahs and bring peace. I am sending Gou Karadi, he is of the Hindu traditions and has much to teach you. Remember the prophets and the covenant. Let God be with you.

Woodland HIlls Community Church Branson - Ted Cunningham Audio - "Thou Shall Not Murder"

Woodland Hills Community Church Mission Statement

In essential beliefs — we have unity.
“There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all...” Eph. 4:4-6

• In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty.
"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God... So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1,4,12,22

• In all our beliefs — we show charity.
“...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains — but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.” 1 Cor. 13:2 (Ph)

THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE:

1. ABOUT GOD

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19;
1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

2. ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30;
Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4;
Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

3. ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He give every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8;
1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galations 5:25;
Ephesians 5:18

4. ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13;
Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

5. ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2

6. ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5;
Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

7. ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10,14; 1 Peter 1:3-5

8. ABOUT ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18;
Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9

THE FOOL'S PRAYER by: Edward Rowland Sill (1841-1887)

      HE royal feast was done; the King
      Sought some new sport to banish care,
      And to his jester cried: "Sir Fool,
      Kneel now, and make for us a prayer!"
      The jester doffed his cap and bells,
      And stood the mocking court before;
      They could not see the bitter smile
      Behind the painted grin he wore.
      He bowed his head, and bent his knee
      Upon the Monarch's silken stool;
      His pleading voice arose: "O Lord,
      Be merciful to me, a fool!
      "No pity, Lord, could change the heart
      From red with wrong to white as wool;
      The rod must heal the sin: but Lord,
      Be merciful to me, a fool!
      "'T is not by guilt the onward sweep
      Of truth and right, O Lord, we stay;
      'T is by our follies that so long
      We hold the earth from heaven away.
      "These clumsy feet, still in the mire,
      Go crushing blossoms without end;
      These hard, well-meaning hands we thrust
      Among the heart-strings of a friend.
      "The ill-timed truth we might have kept--
      Who knows how sharp it pierced and stung?
      The word we had not sense to say--
      Who knows how grandly it had rung!
      "Our faults no tenderness should ask.
      The chastening stripes must cleanse them all;
      But for our blunders -- oh, in shame
      Before the eyes of heaven we fall.
      "Earth bears no balsam for mistakes;
      Men crown the knave, and scourge the tool
      That did his will; but Thou, O Lord,
      Be merciful to me, a fool!"
      The room was hushed; in silence rose
      The King, and sought his gardens cool,
      And walked apart, and murmured low,
      "Be merciful to me, a fool!"
"The Fool's Prayer" is reprinted from The Little Book of American Poets: 1787-1900. Ed. Jessie B. Rittenhouse. Cambridge: Riverside Press, 1915.

Branson Mayor Raeanne Presley gave me a copy of the article linked above article.

At one point I asserted Branson was becoming a theocracy. If anything, Presley is engaged. The article is fascinating sharing the experience of God in the 21st Century.

It's important to note that the publication - "The Economist" - declared God Dead in their millennium edition.

People of faith should find this article interesting as it explores the traditions and experience of modern day religion from a multitude of perspectives including American Suburban Christianity and radical atheism.

Archdiocese warns priests on political activity

July 5 Catholic Church

The Associated Press

Denver -- As clergy involvement in politics stirs debate, Roman Catholic priests and deacons in the Denver Archdiocese are being instructed not to endorse or donate money to political candidates.

The directive came from Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput, one of the nation's most outspoken Catholic bishops in expressing the need for Catholics to follow their faith in making political decisions.

Published in the archdiocesan newspaper, the directive states that clerics "may not publicly participate or endorse political campaigns or initiatives, or publicly affiliate themselves with groups whose primary purpose is to do so."

Jeanette DeMelo, a spokeswoman for the archdiocese, said Chaput wants to give clergy guidance ahead of the 2008 election and wasn't responding to any particular activity by priests or deacons.

She said the directive only affects partisan political activity and said that clergy still have a duty to speak out on moral issues such as abortion or immigration.

In May, a Chicago priest, the Rev. Michael Pfleger, pledged not to do any campaigning or publicly mention any candidate by name after making derisive comments about Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Republican Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, meantime, has disowned endorsements from two high-profile evangelical pastors for their controversial comments about other religions.

Drive Through Church

Banned From GodTube -
The Steve & Kathy Show Increases its Presence on YouTube

(Kansas City, MO) March 26, 2008 - The Steve & Kathy Show continues to press the issue for "a religion that works" with an increased presence on YouTube.com. Cutting through the dead weight of Western Christianity through the medium of comedy and satire, videos posted on YouTube are giving world-wide viewers a glimpse of the genius behind the production of this Christian variety show.

Banned from GodTube because of his "Sexy God" video, Steve Gray, producer, host, and the mastermind of The Steve & Kathy Show, is mincing no words in his fight against what he calls "dead religion." Top on the list of most viewed videos on YouTube is "Real Preachers of Genius: Seeker Sensitive Mega Church Guy" with 23, 496 hits in 2 months - a number that is climbing daily. Spoofing the gimmicks, the Hawaiian shirts, and the me-centered gospel prevalent in American mega-churches, this video leaves the viewer with plenty to think about. As one viewer commented, "Excellent ... and funny too, if it weren't so tragically correct."

"The Everything You've Ever Wanted ... and Sin! Church," a hilarious spin off from Monty Python's well-known "Spam" skit, comes in second as most-viewed of The Steve & Kathy Show videos, many of which are Telly Award winners. Hitting the compromised morality of American churches bent on mega growth, this satire exposes the "no ground rules" attitude of churches who are trying to keep their congregants happy - and in the pews.

Newest on YouTube is "Cheech and Chong at the Drive Thru," poking fun at the latest gimmick of religion: a drive thru church. Sure to be a hit with baby boomers familiar with the Cheech and Chong personalities, this skit spoofs the absurd trend in religious marketing to cater to the me-generation.

With 26 videos now posted on this well-known video streaming website and new ones added weekly, these excerpts from the TV episodes of The Steve & Kathy Show utilize a type of shock therapy to expose the hypocrisies of Christianity and offer a solution for the crisis Gray sees in American Christianity. Not for the religiously inclined, these spoofs help the American public see through the gimmicks of religion and consider a better way to do church.

Atheist Advocate Converts to Deism

At 81 a leading advocate for athiesm converts to deism. The conslusion British Philosopher Antony Flew came to at 81 was after a lifetime of promoting Atheism. The scholar argued by default the emphasis was on "believers" to prove their case - that one should assume God doesn't exist - until it could be proven otherwise.
According to the article, Flew's conclusion resulted from a lifetime of scientific study and the complexity of systems within natural law. His conversion was to Deism - the belief a creator exists but doesn't intervene.

Ministry Reaches Out to Prisoners

COLUMBIA - Religion can be a motivator to get some prisoners the help they need to get their lives back on track.

Bishop Lorenzo Lawson is now using his life story to help others who were once in their shoes.

"We were once down here being predators to the community," Lawson said.  "Now we're down here bringing life to the community."

They are in jail to repay their debt to society while being rehabilitated and Chosen Generation Ministries is helping do just that. Members come to the Boone County Jail every Saturday to give inmates that spiritual connection in a weekly Bible study.

Bishop Lorenzo Lawson is hoping God will turn their lives around and he says he knows it's possible, because he used to be in those same shoes.

"I been to jail, and I know that if it weren't for the word of God and the power of God that I probably would be back in the jail," Lawson said. "I know that for a lot of people who come to this church it's the same."

It was the same for minister Larry McBride. Lawson reached out to him about 5 years ago and invited him to church; the rest of the story he left in God's hands.

"I had to go through what I went through to be at where I am today," Minister McBride said. "About 5 years ago I decided: 'I had been going to church for few years and never read my bible, and I was wondering why I was struggling.

Lawson and McBride spent a combined total of 35 years locked up behind bars.

"I thought I was a thug, I thought that I was born to go to jail and to do the things I was doing," Lawson said. "Then one day by reading the word of God, and someone delivering the word of God to me, I was able to see that I was actually chosen by God."

It was that realization that inspired Lawson and his wife to start the ministry eight years ago. He has been helping prisoners like McBride to turn their life around ever since. McBride is following Lawson's example as a minister and using his story to inspire others.

"My brothers and sisters are out here struggling," said McBride. "Go back in and show them that this isn't the way he wants you to be, this isn't the way you supposed to be."

Chosen Generation Ministries is making a difference to many prisoners.

"I come to this jail ministry, because I needed help," said Boone County prisoner, Kenneth Stapleton. "I put god first in my life, usually I didn't do that; I kept backsliding for 52 years, today is the day, I need the Lord in my life."

Lawson is trying to find his church a permanent location where he can run his ministry seven days a week. There is a vacant church on Garth that he has his eye on. The location is very convenient to his congregation, however this dream is still about 500,000 dollars away.

But until Chosen Generation raises the money, they will have to continue meeting in the Blind Boone Center on Sunday mornings. This location is problematic to many potential parishioners.

"If you have violated a crime in the property of Columbia Housing, you can't come here, so a lot of people that want to come can't come because they're on the 'no trespassing list'," said Lawson.

Other goals for the ministry include, providing transitional housing, a daycare center and employment opportunities once a permanent location is found.

The ministry is still pulling people from very diverse backgrounds wherever the church meets.

We have people from all social status that come, they are drawn to this ministry because the spirit of god bypasses any social barriers," said Lawson.

Arab woman battles with Muslim Cleric (Video)

Arab Woman Secularist pairs off with Arab Reporter and Muslim Cleric. The Newscaster references Western Political Scientis Samuuel P. Huntington crediting Western scholars for design of "Clash of Civilizations Social Model".
The woman argues Islam initiated a social model of division. Huntington's model argues immigration without cultures merging creates two distinct cultures within a civilization that clash.
The cleric writes the woman off by asking, "Are you a heretic? Why then should I listen to you?" The woman asserts Jewish culture and subsequent offspring have dominated contributions to scientific thought.

Why Mike Huckabee Worries some Jewish Voters

The article from an Isreali publication discusses the "religion" issue from a jewish perspective.

Excerpt:
"If he fails to win the presidential nomination, Huckabee is considered the leading candidate for the position of vice president. He's from the South (Arkansas), he is an evangelical Christian and he could balance a ticket headed by Mitt Romney, a Mormon, or by McCain or Rudy Giuliani, neither of whom are popular with the Christian right because of their positions on issues such as abortion and immigration.

In Jewish circles, this prospect has been met with dismay. Huckabee has a long record of expressing a longing for a more Christian America. Late last week, the American Jewish Committee criticized him for views it characterized as "a prescription for theocracy."

This is what Huckabee said: "What we need to do is amend the Constitution so it's in God?s standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other."

A rather opaque statement, but one message is clear: Huckabee wants to change the U.S. Constitution to reflect what he sees as divine law. It's not exactly what the Jewish voter wants.

It's not the first time Huckabee has butted heads with the principle of the separation of church and state that is so dear, for obvious reasons, to America's Jewish minority. On the eve of the Iowa caucus, an ad went on the air in which he declared himself a "Christian leader."

Priest x's 3

(Coming Soon)

Thorn in his side

The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A murderous desire for love
How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me ?
How can they hear me say those words
Still they don't believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever, they ever, believe me ?
How can they see the Love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us ?
And after all this time
They don't want to believe us
And if they don't believe us now
Will they ever believe us ?
And when you want to Live
How do you start ?
Where do you go ?
Who do you need to know ?

How evil are you?

How evil are you?
Whew....I thought this was a fun little site and since they pronounced me holy I'd thought I'd ruin the whole thing and setup a self righteous post.
