Philosophy of Science

After Mitt Romney delivered his Faith In America speech some atheists were up in arms over the use of the term God used to alienate their segment of society.
To them I argue, Science is their God and science serves as the predominant religion in World Culture - the religion of the masses.
Interesting ideas and dialogue on the topic can be found with the discipline - Philosophy of Science. One of the most interesting reading can be found with Paul Feyerbend who taught at University of California at Berkeley before he died.

Athiest Counterstrike - Christian Church and State Response from Springfield Athiest

"The premise of our core documents was based upon the belief in God - which is social scientifically traceable and provable."

Possibly history revisionists can make that claim, but mainstream science and historians will beg to differ. That very statement annilates the first amendment, which was put in place to make clear, that the consitution endorses no such thing.

The Treaty of Tripoli makes no specific mention of God, but it does specifically mention Christianity. Perhaps you should check it out.

The Treaty of Tripoli
Signed by John Adams Second President of the United States.
"As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen [Muslims] ... it is declared ... that no pretext arising from religious opinion shall ever product an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries....
"The United States is not a Christian nation any more than it is a Jewish or a Mohammedan nation."........Treaty of Tripoli (1797), carried unanimously by the Senate and signed into law by John Adams (the original language is by Joel Barlow, US Consul)

"If you knew your history, you would know where I'm coming from"
.......Bob Marley

This a little presumptutious of Bob Marley, don't you think? Or is it just a handy quote to question my knowledge of history?

It basically says, that if you know the same history that Bob Marley perceives, you would know where he was coming from and does so in a sarcastic manner.

As for not making commentary on being a product of your social/cultural upbringing, probably a wise choice as that is also self evident. I'm assuming here that you are in fact an atheist yourself, considering that I only disbelieve in one God less than you do. Would that be a fair statement? Would I be correct to assume that you disbelieve in all man's created Gods with the exception of the perceived God that was ingrained in you since childhood?

History Hijacking:

Horus-Egytian God, 3000 B.C. Born of a virgin on Dec.25th, had 12 disciples, performed miracles, was crucified, buried for 3 days and resurrected.

Attis-Greek God, 1200 B.C. Born of a virgin on Dec.25th, had 12 disciples, performed miracles, was crucified, buried for 3 days and resurrected.

Krishna-India-God of 900 B.C. Born of a virgin, performed miracles, after death was resurrected.

Dionysus-Greek God 500 B.C. Born of a virgin on Dec 25th, performed miracles, after death was resurrected.

Mithra-Persian God 1200 B.C. Born of a virgin on Dec.25th, had 12 disciples, performed miracles, dead for 3 days and resurrected.

There are numerous others from all over the world with the same attributes as Jesus, long before Jesus.

If you want more examples, I can supply them, but since you're a researcher, you can do your own homework.

Does any of this portend a pattern?

If you knew the history of your own religion, you'd know where I'm coming from.

Catholic Archbishop on Ethics and War

The priest answers some interesting questions about Faith in Warfare which provide a challenge for me.
The problem I have is the combination of the religious right and their perspective on defense. I figured I better ask an expert and confided the details of my struggle with Springfield Missouri blogger Area 417.
She has a son in the military and treated my opinion with openness, kindness and perspective.
This is something I still struggle with and leads me to understanding the importance of separation of church and state.
